The Department of Physics and Astronomy houses two Pre-Engineering programs and two Dual-Degree programs with Auburn University and Clemson University. The checksheets for Auburn University Dual Degree Program and Clemson University Dual-Degree Program can be viewed here. These indicate the courses taken at Appalachian that are counted towards those programs.
The first Pre-Engineering program has been approved by the Subcommittee on Pre-Engineering of the University of North Carolina General Administration. If a student completes this program and meets all requirements, they may transfer and be accepted at any of the engineering programs at: North Carolina A & T State University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition students may use this program to transfer to engineering programs outside the state of North Carolina. The second Pre-Engineering program is with the College of Engineering at Clemson University. Students may pursue pre-engineering studies for Agricultural, Ceramic, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Analysis. Two pre-engineering check sheets for courses to be taken for Agricultural and Chemical Engineering and for All other Engineering Disciplines are available.
